2018 Beauty & Skincare Favorites

Hi, my friends!! Happy 2019! (Okay, I know it’s been a new year for like two weeks now, but still) I have seen so many YouTube videos and posts from other influencers about some of their favorite beauty products that launched in 2018, and I decided to share some of my favorites with YOU! Check out the links below and let me know if you had any favorite or must-have products that stood out to you in the last twelve months!

Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask // Kat Von D Lock It Foundation // Tatcha Violet-C Radiance Mask // Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray // Tarte Shape Tape Concealer // It Cosmetics Superhero Mascara // Kopari Coconut Lip Glossy // Bite Beauty Lavender Agave Lip Mask // Drunk Elephant TLC Framboos Glycolic Night Serum // ABH Sultry Palette // Vegetable Facial Sponge

The Jet Lag mask by Summer Fridays may have been the mask of 2018. This ultra-moisturizing mask doubles as a moisturizer and gives you that *refreshed* feeling your whole body desires when you step off a plane. I didn’t buy into the hype until the year had almost come to a close, but OMG. The obsession is real.

The Violet C Radiance Mask by Tatcha is my go-to when my skin is feeling like a dull has-been. It’s pretty purple formula applies smoothly and doesn’t dry solid or cracky, just a little tacky. When removed, the skin underneath is smooth, supple, and seriously radiant. This is a definite must-have.

The TLC Framboos Night Serum by Drunk Elephant is another product to keep in your skincare artillery cabinet. I like to use TLC Framboos about once a week, a few days after exfoliating. The glycolic serum soaks into my face with a slight tingle and chemically removes all of the flaky skin to keep me from looking dead and buried. I leave it overnight, and when I wake up in the AM, my face looks and feels refreshed.

I fell in love with Kopari Coconut Glossy during the summer. It’s perfectly glossy (literally not sticky at all) and light, but still provides just enough moisture to keep my lips from feeling sun-chapped. During the cooler months when my mouth needs a little something extra, I LOVE using my Bite Beauty Lavender Agave Lip Mask!! I keep one in my purse and one on my night stand. When my lips start to feel a little dry and cracked, I apply a bit of the formula and within hours, my lips are like brand new.

Moving on to makeup – Anastasia Beverly Hills killed the palette game this year. I thought pretty highly of the Norvina palette, but I seriously died and rose again when Sultry hit the shelves. This palette is PERFECT for a simple, every-day makeup look or something smoky and sexy for a night on the town. The neutrals, the shimmers.. I cannot say enough about the colors and the pigment. If you don’t have Sultry, what are you even doing?

Now, I will be honest – I was a little late to the game when it came to Kat Von D’s famous Lock It Foundation. I’ve had friends try it, but I never really wanted it…..until my skin got weird and my foundation started going EVERYWHERE (even with primer!!) That’s when I turned to KVD and locked in the foundation of my life – or at least of the year twenty-eighteen. This stuff STAYS and SLAYS. I apply it with my beauty blender and it stays all day without drying my skin out! It’s goodness, y’all.

Obviously everyone was on the Tarte Shape Tape train last year. I can only recall a handful of times that I watched a YT tutorial that didn’t include Shape Tape, and I know why. The creamy formula has insane coverage, and my twenty-six year old (designer) eye bags needs it! It’s buildable, blendable, and has a wide variety of color options. You need it. End of story.

I’ve always been a fan of It Cosmetics, but when I got a sample of the Superhero mascara from Ulta, I became a super-fan. I usually layer mascaras on my lashes, but Superhero is always my first coat. The brush is perfect for separating and defining each individual lash, while also creating volume and length. It’s become a staple in my makeup bag, and it should prob be one in yours, too.

When it comes to keeping all of my makeup on, I turn to the holy grail – Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray. I was using another brand for quite awhile, and I was fine with it, but Ulta had UD XL setting spray on sale for $16, so I obv had to buy it. Y’all. This is gorilla glue in a fine mist that’s appropriate for your face. I use this on my face every single day, and especially on makeup clients for weddings and photoshoots. I’ll never turn back.

When it’s time to take everything off, I loveeee my charcoal infused vegetable facial sponge. I remove my makeup and apply a little cleanser to the sponge, then create small circles on my face, washing away all the day’s impurities. The composition of the sponge makes my skin feel so clean and fresh, versus a cloth or synthetic sponge. This little goodie was around $5, and it was the best $5 I spent in 2018.

That’s all of my beauty and skincare favorites for 2018, friends! Let me know if you’ve tried any of the products I mentioned in the comments!
