D.I.Y Fabric Softener!
Okay, so you might be thinking, “Why wouldn’t you just go to Walmart and purchase fabric softener?” Here’s my answer—I didn’t want to! Instead, I would rather use what I have at home, which allows me to customize a bit and saves me money in the long run! Now, I should have taken photos when of the process, but it just so happens that I didn’t plan on creating a new blog at that point, so I didn’t think that far ahead, LOL. I promise I will take step-by-step photos of the process when I’m due for more fabric softener! For now, here’s what you need to get started:
- 1 large container <I use a glass jar from Walmart that one might use to make tea during the summer>
- 1 cup of hair conditioner in the scent of your choice
- 3 cups of vinegar
- 5 cups of hot water
- long spoon or whisk for mixing
First, you will mix together your hot water and conditioner in a medium-sized bowl. Then, you will mix in your vinegar and stir for 1 minute. Finally, empty your mixture in the container you will be using to dispense it. You will use the same amount of fabric softener that you would use if it was store-bought. As far as dispensing, I use a small medicine cup, filling it twice, and pouring into the softener spot in my washer.
Simple, yes? Also, the higher the quality (or more expensive) the conditioner is DOES NOT MAKE A DIFFERENCE. I seriously use Suave from Walmart and it smells fantastic.
